Oh vending machine…
Why do you taunt me with your sweet, sugary crap?
Don’t you know that you are packed full of fat?
I should have planned ahead with healthy snacks of my own.
So, I could avoid this stomach groan.
Oh vending machine…
You are always there for me when I am not prepared.
I can’t even think right now because my mind is so impaired.
You say you have healthy choices in your stash.
And all I have to do is give you a little cash?
Oh vending machine…
I have fallen right into your trap.
I need a snack so I can make a come back.
I give in, you win.
My cash is yours.
But next time, I will buy healthy snacks at the stores’.
Pack your healthy snacks ahead of time, because if you are unprepared you will end up at the vending machine or drive-thru. A few of the easiest and quickest healthy snacks are: a small piece of fruit, granola bar, plastic bag of your favorite veggies, or a handful of unsalted nuts. What are your favorite healthy snacks? Please leave a message or a rap 😉

Nuts and fruits are definitely my top snack choices! But sometimes I’ll have crackers with nut butter or just a hard-boiled egg for a change.
I like air popped popcorn, whole grain crackers with hummus, peanut butter with a banana, or cashews with a clementine. Protein bars are good in a pinch too.
Awesome
I don’t like vending but my kids do
They beg me for snacks with Scooby Do
They don’t understand why I say no
What’s so wrong with a Ho Ho?
I generally stand strong and hope they’ll see
That eating fake food is really silly
Maybe they like the machine part best
Healthy vending would be worth a test.
I appreciate your well written and informative articles.
I plan start eating more oranges and stay away from vending machines!
Brooke,
This healthy vending machine is probably not the best option, but looks a little better than twinkies and ho-hos.

personally, I always carry around some pocket chicken so I’m ready for any and all protein emergencies.
Hi Jeff, Thanks for visiting! I actually saw one of these vending machines at the Chicago History Museum. They do have a lot healthier options then the traditional vending machines. Haha…pocket chicken?
