About Brooke Schantz
Meet Brooke Schantz (that’s me!)
I received my B.S. in Dietetics from Purdue University and M.S. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During my Masters studies, I completed my Dietetic Internship and became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). I also became board certified as a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), which qualifies me to work with athletes and active individuals. I believe in the power of food, practice what I preach, and love protesting inaccurate nutrition information.
What’s in a Name?
The name Bitchin’ Nutrition popped into my head during my undergrad years at Purdue University. I recall playing around with names for a future business of mine that sounded like it could also be a radio/TV show. Later in grad school, I had a professor tell me, “no one is going to listen to you unless you can make nutrition cool, fun, and sexy.” I immediately thought “DONE” and Bitchin’ Nutrition was born. The slang meaning for the word Bitchin’ means remarkably good, excellent, cool, and awesome. Bitchin’ Nutrition means learning about nutrition can be fun and living a healthy lifestyle can make you feel “cool”, “awesome”, and yes even “sexy”!
